Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy has hailed Nigerian legend, Vincent Enyeama
as an inspiration behind his goalkeeping career. The in-form goalie has claimed the former Nigerian shotstopper played a critical role in where he has come thus far.
During his time, Enyeama was undoubtedly one of the best goalies, especially for national team. He also won the 2013 African Cup of Nations title under late former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.
Since joining the Blues, Mendy has been in scintillating form in all competitions to the delight of the Chelsea fans and has attributed his career success to Vincent Enyeama.
According to the report on Owngoal also cited on Sportsyarn, Mendy explained that Vincent Enyeama’s active games years back at Lille gave him the confidence.
“You get to a point when you are not sure if you have made the right career choice. “I was at that point, but, seeing a fellow African like Enyeama doing it regularly at the top level in Ligue 1 got me moving.”
